Shell is a global energy and petrochemical group of companies operating in more than 70 countries and employing over 92,000 people. The company manages 43,000 service stations and 30 refineries and chemical plants worldwide. Shell Hungary Zrt. has been present in Hungary since 1925 and currently operates 199 service stations with 185 employees. Its main business activities are the sale of fuel, both in bulk and at retail, as well as the sale of lubricants and natural gas.
Shell decided to modernize the lighting at its gas station located on the M3 motorway. With the aim of updating the lighting in both the service station shop and the parking area, a solution was sought that would not only provide high-quality lighting but also be efficient enough to reduce the gas station's energy consumption by more than half.
In accordance with the approved project, GE replaced the old luminaires with more modern and efficient LED lights. This solution resulted in a significant reduction in costs and CO2 emissions compared to the previous lighting. Since the LED luminaires installed at the service station are state-of-the-art, energy consumption is expected to be reduced by more than half, while the new parking area lighting is expected to reduce costs by more than 75%.
With this new technology, the fixed elements can be replaced modularly, reducing maintenance time and costs. Thanks to this implementation, the quality of lighting both inside and outside the gas station has improved dramatically. The LED lights illuminate the interior of the store and the products, and this brighter, more pleasant lighting also enhances the customer experience. The elements installed in the parking area distribute light where needed, ensuring even safer operation of the gas station than before.
In the execution of the Project, elements from the Infusion LED Downlighter line were used in the store area, while ALIx luminaires were placed outside.
