The new material, called StabiLUX, is a high-reflectance white coating that maximizes the usable light from surface-mounted or COB (Chip-On-Board) LED emitters.
StabiLUX is a silicone-free formula designed to maintain high reflectance even after die attachment and printed circuit board assembly. In tests and in the field, StabiLUX has demonstrated its ability to maintain up to 95% reflectance after three reflow soldering cycles and 2,000 hours of operation at 150°C. StabiLUX is also UV stable and shows minimal performance degradation after prolonged exposure to LED lighting or sunlight.
Compared to photosensitive liquid solder mask alone, StabiLUX retains its reflectance for a longer period. After reflow soldering, the reflectance of the solder mask often drops to 80% or less, while StabiLUX retains virtually all of its initial reflectance after the thermal process. Furthermore, StabiLUX is the only one-component, silicone-free, reusable reflective coating available on the market. While most two-component coatings are not reusable after mixing, the unused portion of StabiLUX can be refrozen for later use.
StabiLUX is applied over the top of the solder mask and is designed for use with FR4 printed circuit boards and THERMAL CLAD insulated metal substrates. THERMAL CLAD substrates are high-performance, thermally enhanced substrates that help maximize power density and system reliability. THERMAL CLAD is available in various structures, such as THERMAL CLAD HPL, which is optimized for high-power lighting applications and is used by many leading LED manufacturers for their power LEDs.
