They occupy a space of 2.2 mm2, being the smallest high-power emitters in the industry, only one-fifth the size of the violet and ultraviolet LEDs available on the market.
LUXEON UV LEDs can be tightly packed with a spacing of only 0.2 mm, enabling the development of high-power-density (W/cm²) UV systems. Offering a maximum drive current of 1 A for increased luminous flux per LED, these high-efficiency devices cover the 385 to 410 nm spectrum and are suitable for precise optical control. They are ideal for a wide range of applications, including ultraviolet treatment, counterfeit banknote detection, spectroscopes, forensic, medical, and security lighting, and specialty lighting such as that used in aquariums and nightclubs.
The LEDs are based on LUXEON Z's inverted chip surface-mount design, which allows the termination to make direct contact with the thermally conductive aluminum nitride (AlN) substrate, resulting in superior thermal management. The thermal resistance (Rth) is very low, at least 3.5 KΩ per watt.
