High-performance, feature-rich, secure, and RAID-compatible for NVMe. These accelerators are especially well-suited for modern AI data centers where accelerating access to NVMe storage is essential for handling demanding workloads and achieving maximum overall system performance.
The SmartRAID 4300 family takes a new approach to NVMe RAID by disaggregating Microchip's Smart Storage platform into separate software and hardware components. These accelerators, which use Microchip's PCIe® storage controllers as a hardware foundation to free up CPU resources and accelerate RAID, separate the storage stack from the software to leverage the expanded PCIe infrastructure for optimized data flow and connectivity. In numerous internal tests, the SmartRAID 4300 family has delivered up to seven times the I/O performance of the previous generation.

Thanks to the Smart Storage software running on the main CPU, data transfer via I/O achieves maximum performance, as it occurs directly from the main CPU to the NVMe endpoints at the speed of their corresponding PCIe generation. Furthermore, parity-based redundancy (XOR) is offloaded from the main CPU to the accelerator hardware. This architecture eliminates the bottlenecks that typically characterize traditional online storage solutions and helps the SmartRAID 4300 accelerator achieve high levels of scalability, flexibility, and support for 4th and 5th generation main CPUs with up to 32 CPU-attached NVMe x4 devices and
64 logical drives/RAID groups.
