Ecohub is a state-of-the-art technological platform, developed entirely by the Galician company Telecon, which offers companies and entities in any sector a truly intelligent and personalized solution to optimize energy management and save costs.
How does it work?
The platform includes, first, a set of probes and analyzers that collect information on the energy consumption of different facilities (lighting, heating and cooling, data processing, etc.) and analyze the various parameters and circumstances of their operation (schedules, seasonality, presence or absence of workers or visitors on the premises, etc.).
The information collected by these devices is sent to a concentrator, which, in turn, transmits it to the server hosting Ecohub's Centralized Energy Management Platform. This software processes the data and presents the corresponding reports through a customizable dashboard that company managers can access at any time from any internet-connected device (PC, tablet, smartphone, etc.). The system also generates alerts when any incident occurs that falls outside of normal parameters and allows for an automatic comparison of the supplier's bill to verify that it matches actual consumption.
A key factor for competitiveness,
Galicia consumes an amount of electricity each year equivalent to that generated by burning 1.6 million tons of oil. Just over half of that consumption, 52%, corresponds to the industrial sector, while services account for 20% and domestic consumption for another 25%. Despite the economic crisis, and apart from a slight drop between 2007 and 2009, consumption grows every year, as demonstrated by studies from the Galician Energy Institute (Inega).
To understand the importance of the electricity bill for Galician productive sectors, consider these two figures: the canning industry must spend about 5 euro cents (2.29 for electricity and 2.85 for heating) on energy to produce one kilogram of finished product ready for sale. For the textile sector, another strategic sector for the Galician economy, each garment produced costs an energy expenditure of 15.45 cents, and companies pay an average annual energy bill of €81,862, of which €53,651 is for electricity. In other words, energy costs represent 2.2% of the sector's total sales volume.
