wurth mag-wThe award-winning MagI³C-VDRM functions as a fully integrated DC/DC current-mode power supply with low electromagnetic interference. It incorporates a control circuit, power switching, and passive components in a single, low-profile package, allowing engineers to save design time and reduce time to market.

Thanks to their high performance and the precision of their output voltage regulator, MagI³C-VDRM modules offer a wide input voltage range from 6 to 42 Vdc, output voltages from 0.8 to 24 V, and output currents from 1 to 5 A, as well as a robust integrated compensation circuitry and a soft-start function for easy and safe power-up. Given the stable, low-oscillation voltages they provide, this series is ideal for components such as microprocessors, digital signal processors, FPGAs, MCUs, and I/O interface applications. Common applications for MagI³C-VDRM modules include point-of-load (PoL) DC/DC conversion in power supply systems and in servers, telecommunications applications, industrial control, measurement equipment, and entertainment devices.

Three of the devices in the MagI³C-VDRM series of variable output regulators cover output voltages from 5 to 24 V and corresponding output currents of 1, 1.5, and 3 A. Two others offer output voltages from 0.8 to 6.0 V and output currents of 2 and 5 A. In addition to the programmable soft-start function, the available variable settings include output voltage, switching frequency, standby mode, and an adjustable under-voltage lockout (UVLO) protection system. The regulators also feature an integrated circuit system for thermal and electrical protection, including protection against overheating, electrical overloads, and overvoltage, as well as output short-circuit protection.

The integrated circuits, which can be soldered manually or automatically, are housed in an innovative, high-density, 7-pin TO263-7-EP (Exposed Pad) industrial package. This package features a single exposed ground connection (PGND) for excellent heat dissipation and optimal thermal performance. Furthermore, the device's shielded inductor provides low electromagnetic interference characteristics in compliance with EN55022 Class B, resulting in a significant reduction in the time required for electromagnetic compatibility testing. Offering a wide operating temperature range of -40°C to 125°C (junction and ambient temperatures, respectively), this series also complies with RoHS and REACH regulations (2002/95/EC on the restriction of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment / Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals Regulation).
