The new development achieves up to 125 watts with natural air convection at +50°C and a compact 4 x 2-inch "Open Frame" design, or 122 watts—nearly the same power output in the optionally available aluminum housing. Fluid distribution allows the continuous power to be increased to 150 watts. To achieve a long lifespan and reliability with this high power density, several design challenges had to be overcome. Among other things, the SMD power semiconductors have been positioned on the board in such a way that excess heat is dissipated both to unused copper surfaces that act as a heat sink on the board, and via thermal pads on an aluminum base plate.
The power supplies operate with input voltages of 90 and 264 VAC and can function in temperatures ranging from -30°C to 70°C. Modules with 12V, 24V, and 48V outputs are currently available. They are short-circuit proof and overload protected. The efficiency reaches 91% at peak performance.
The power supplies are certified according to IEC/EN/UL 60950-1 and IEC/EN/UL 62368-1 standards and comply with the RoHS directive and EN 55022/24 (Class B) regarding electromagnetic compatibility. The modules have a three-year warranty. Samples are available worldwide through RECOM's established distribution channels.
