Therefore, for larger indoor LED displays (>100 inches), such as those found in cinemas, convention centers, and virtual reality film sets, these low-pixel-pitch LED displays are suitable.
However, the use of LED displays in indoor applications must meet certain requirements, such as minimal noise, low radiant heat, safe electricity usage, and miniaturization.
LED displays are typically used outdoors and are equipped with a fan to dissipate heat from the system or the internal power supply. When the fan spins, it will be accompanied by high-speed fan noise, but this won't affect the viewer because it's used outdoors.
If the LED display is used indoors, it will interfere with the sound quality of the audiovisual playback and cause radiant heat problems. Furthermore, the color of the LED display changes through different LED wavelengths. Therefore, you will feel the radiant heat of the LED when viewing it up close; thus, how to reduce LED heat and the conversion loss of the internal control board are the challenges we must overcome.
Furthermore, users (especially children) easily touch indoor displays, and reducing the risk of electric shock is a crucial safety requirement. Therefore, we recommend adopting a front-end centralized DC power supply system that meets safety voltage (SELV) standards.
This centralized DC power supply (front-end) is integrated with a low-voltage DC/DC power module (back-end) to drive the control ICs with either 4.2V or 3.8V. This improves electrical safety and reduces unnecessary conversion losses and radiant heat from the LEDs.
In this way, the power supply and control system can be designed to separate heat and electricity, and the heat source can be dispersed to reduce radiation problems in the LED display. Indoor space is often limited. Using a centralized low-voltage power supply also allows for a smaller LED display structure, aligning with miniaturization principles, thus reducing installation space and improving the aesthetics of the mechanism.
MEAN WELL and OLFER Electronics provide low-voltage (24V/48V) centralized DC power supply solutions, specifically for indoor LED displays with low pixel pitch, helping customers overcome the challenges mentioned above.
We also offer low-voltage centralized DC power supply systems (front-end) such as the UHP/DPU/RST and SHP series, which meet SELV safety voltage requirements and can be combined with a Class III module (NID100-4.2V) to address requirements for quiet operation, low radiant heat, safe power usage, and miniaturization.
For front-end power systems, MEAN WELL and OLFER Electronics offer a wide range of single-phase and three-phase AC power supply solutions to meet diverse customer needs.
For the DC-DC module, MEAN WELL and OLFER Electronics provide two current outputs of 11A and 15A with different LED displays (pixel pitch) offering brightness values of 600-1200 cd/m². Only two NID100 modules are required for the controller board. For detailed system power solutions and application case introductions, please refer to the table and links below.

Features of the 24V/48VDC Centralized Power Supply Solution:
• Reduced system noise (fan)
• Reduced system and LED radiant heat
• Compliant with Safety Low Voltage (SELV)
• Compact size for system design

Case study:
For this centralized DC power solution, MEAN WELL collaborated with PBM client Foshan Chainzone Technology Co., Ltd., using an indoor display with a low pixel pitch (P1.5). Each booth is equipped with two NID100 DC/DC modules (4.2V/10A) connected to the controller board, providing 8K high-definition resolution. It is being used in the convention center of the MEAN WELL Suzhou Smart Park.
