The 12V and 24V output versions are capable of delivering 140% of their rated power to handle peak loads with outstanding efficiency of up to 93.5%. Two versions are available: pin-based (TEPS) or connector-based (TECS), with compatible footprints for easy system upgrades. Standard products are supplied in an open format, although a dustproof enclosure is available as an option.
Responding to the demands of the smaller size market in industrial applications, COSEL designers combined the best of the latest technologies to deliver high-power-density power supplies with high efficiency and reliability. Building on their extensive experience in designing high-efficiency topologies, the COSEL R&D team developed a highly integrated power stage using wideband gallium nitride (GaN) semiconductors (WBG) coupled with a high-frequency planar transformer. Leveraging the advantages of GaN's high-frequency switching performance, it has been possible to deliver 45 and 65 W in a 1 x 2.3 inch (25.4 x 58.4 mm max.) footprint with up to 93.5% efficiency.
Designed for flexibility, the TE series offers two interconnection versions: the TEPS with PCB mounting pins and the TECS with crimp-type JST connectors. In both cases, the 45 W and 65 W connectors are interchangeable. This feature, highly valued by system designers, simplifies designs and provides upgrade options. COSEL also considered the requirement to minimize the power supply's size and adopted a vertical mounting technique that, combined with a higher switching frequency of up to 800 kHz, saves approximately 58% of board space compared to conventional technology, while maintaining a high level of power conversion efficiency—three points higher than conventional products.
Designed for worldwide applications, the TE series has an input voltage range of 85 VAC to 264 VAC single-phase, and meets the safety standards for the input voltage range of 100-240 VAC (50/60 Hz).
The TECS/TEPS45F and TECS/TEPS65F models are available in three fixed output voltages: 5V, 12V, and 24V, with respective current ratings of up to 45W and 65W. To accommodate the inrush current associated with DC motors, capacitor banks, and similar applications, a 140% (H) peak current option will be available for the 12V and 24V models in 2024.
The TECS/TEPS45-65F benefits from an optimized switching topology that provides efficiency up to 93.5% at 230V AC and rated load.
The units are designed to operate between -10°C and +70°C and can be mounted in any orientation, although power reduction may apply depending on the ambient temperature and environment. The units have an input-to-output isolation voltage of 3,000 VAC and a maximum leakage current of 0.25 mA, in accordance with IEC 62368.
COSEL's TECS/TEPS45-65F units are ideal for Class II equipment and are capable of achieving low-noise performance without grounding. With meticulous attention to energy conservation, the TECS/TEPS45-65F's no-load power consumption is as low as 200 milliwatts.
Designed for use in demanding applications where space is often limited, the TECS/TEPS units measure (width x height x depth): TECS45F: 25.4 x 23.5 x 76.2 mm (1.00 x 0.93 x 3.00 inches); TEPS45F: 25.4 x 24.0 x 58.5 mm (1.00 x 0.94 x 2.30 in); TECS65F: 25.4 x 27.0 x 76.2 mm (1.00 x 1.06 x 3.00 in); and TEPS65F: 25.4 x 27.5 x 58.5 mm (1.00 x 1.08 x 2.30 in). For applications requiring dust protection, a plastic-enclosed version, option (N), will be available in 2024.
The TECS/TEPS45-65F meet the safety agency approvals UL62368-1 and c-UL (equivalent to CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 62368-1), EN62368-1. The products also comply with the Japanese Electrical Equipment and Materials Safety Act DEN-AN.
The TECS/TEPS45-65F series is suitable for a wide range of applications, including measuring and analytical equipment, machine tools, industrial printers, display equipment, and ticket vending machines. They comply with RoHS and Low Voltage Directives and bear the CE and UKCA marks.
