This new 8-pin miniature chip (WL-CSP) is a variant of the existing MB85RS1MT product. Compared to the industry-standard SO8 chip, the new WL-CSP chip (3.09 x 2.28 x 0.33 mm) allows for a 77% reduction in mounting area and an 80% reduction in device height. With the release of this product, Fujitsu offers a 1Mbit SPI FRAM memory chip with the smallest package technology available in the industry.

While conventional non-volatile memories like flash memory or EEPROM have a lifespan of only 1 million write cycles, the MB85RS1MT FRAM offers a lifespan of 10 trillion read/write cycles, enabling flexible storage of real-time data logs. Each memory cell can be overwritten quickly and flexibly without any waiting time, resulting in significantly lower power consumption during write operations. This also helps extend battery life, especially in portable and sensor applications that frequently perform logging functions.

The MB85RS1MT device operates within a voltage range of 1.8V to 3.6V and an operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. It guarantees data retention for up to 10 years at a temperature of 85°C.
