These microcontrollers expand upon the well-known PIC32MX3/4 series of high-performance 32-bit microcontrollers. They offer more RAM and greater peripheral integration at a lower cost. The PIC32MX3/4 models incorporate 28 10-bit A/D converters and 5 UARTs, 105 DMIPS, serial peripherals, graphic displays, capacitive touch sensing, digital audio support, and connectivity.
This new PIC32 MX3/4 family, and Microchip's comprehensive solutions, enable application designers in the consumer, appliance, medical, and industrial markets to incorporate high-quality, low-cost audio, capacitive touch sensing, and graphic displays, in addition to USB, with faster, lower-cost development and reduced risk.
The PIC32MX3/4 family is supported by a complete suite of tools and software. This includes general-purpose software development tools such as the MPLAB® X integrated development environment and the MPLAB XC32 C/C++ compiler. Application-specific tools include Microchip Graphics Display Designer X and the Microchip Graphics Library, which provide a visual design tool for quickly and easily creating graphical user interfaces (GUIs) for applications. The microcontrollers also support a powerful suite of Microchip protocol stacks, including TCP/IP, USB device and host, Bluetooth®, and Wi-Fi®. For digital audio applications, Microchip offers software for tasks such as sample rate conversion, audio codecs like MP3 and AAC, and software for connecting smartphones and other personal electronic devices.
The PIC32MX3/4 family is supported by Microchip's PIC32 USB Starter Kit III (320003-3), priced at $59.99. and the 100-pin PIC32MX450 USB PIM (MA32002-2), priced at $25.00, for the Explorer 16 modular development system.
The PIC32MX430F064X, PIC32MX330F064X, PIC32MX350F128X, PIC32MX450F128X, PIC32MX350F256X, and PIC32MX450F256X models are now available. The PIC32MX370F512X and PIC32MX470F512X models are scheduled for availability in September 2013. These microcontrollers are supplied in 64-pin, 9x9x0.9 mm QFN packages; 64-pin, 10x10x1 mm TQFP packages; TQFP with 100 pins and 12x12x1 mm/14x14x1 mm; and VTLA with 124 pins and 9x9x0.9 mm.
