The numerous flash memory options (up to 2 MB, with 100k write cycles), along with the various available packages, allow customers to take advantage of the convenience of a scalable platform. This enables them to meet diverse requirements, reduce associated engineering effort, and maximize software reuse.
Each microcontroller incorporates a 12-bit multi-channel A/D converter, and the available interfaces include CAN, Ethernet, and USB. They also feature security mechanisms such as secure boot and access authentication, as well as functional safety compliant with IEC60730 Class B.
The devices in the new M3H group are based on the Arm® Cortex®-M3 processor core. They operate at up to 120 MHz (150 DMIPS) and are supplied in LQFP packages. They integrate 512 KB of code flash, 32 KB of data flash, and a separate 4 KB of user flash, in addition to a 12-bit A/D converter and two 8-bit D/A converters. They also feature an advanced programmable motor controller (A-PMD) and LCD control functions.
Members of the M4K and M4M groups are based on the Arm Cortex-M4 processor core with a floating-point unit (FPU). They operate at up to 160 MHz (203 DMIPS) and incorporate up to 256 KB of flash memory for code, 32 KB of flash memory for data, and 4 KB of flash memory for user interface. Each device incorporates Toshiba's original intellectual property (IP) for motor control, enabling sensorless field-oriented control (FOC) of up to three motors using a single microcontroller. The M4K and M4M models are supplied in LQFP packages. The M4M group microcontrollers include an additional CAN controller, allowing direct connection to the most common industrial fieldbuses.
The M4G and M4N group devices are optimized for processing complex data. The integrated Arm Cortex-M4 processor core with FPU operates at up to 200 MHz (254 DMIPS). The devices provide up to 2 MB of flash memory for code and 32 KB of flash memory for data, separate from the main memory. They incorporate IP A-PMD for motor control and are available in LQFP and BGA packages, making them ideal for both industrial and consumer applications. The M4N group devices also include a USB 2.0 Full-Speed OTG controller with integrated physical layer (up to 2 ports), a 10/100 Ethernet MAC, and a CAN controller.
