within the automotive, industrial, consumer, artificial intelligence (AI) / machine learning (ML) and medical markets.

The 32-bit, 200 MHz PIC32A family has been designed to significantly reduce the need for external components and integrates high-speed analog peripherals, a
12-bit ADC with speeds up to 40 Msps, high-speed 5 ns comparators, and operational amplifiers with a gain-bandwidth product (GBWP) of 100 MHz for distributed (edge) and intelligent sensing. These features, along with a high-performance CPU, allow multiple functions to be executed on a single microcontroller, thus optimizing system costs and the bill of materials.

Furthermore, the integration of hardware protection and security features, such as ECC (Error Code Correction) in Flash and RAM, MBIST (Memory Built-In Self-Test), I/O integrity monitoring, clock monitoring, immutable secure boot, and Flash access control, are designed to provide secure execution of software code within an embedded control system application.

A 64-bit floating-point unit (FPU) integrated into the PIC32A microcontrollers efficiently handles mathematical processing applications that use large amounts of data and facilitates the adoption of model-based designs. These microcontrollers help developers accelerate execution in applications that require significant processing resources and advanced performance for connecting sensors and processing data.

“The PIC32A microcontrollers, designed for intelligent sensing and control applications, enhance our 32-bit portfolio by balancing cost-effectiveness, performance, and advanced analog peripherals,” said Rod Drake, corporate vice president of one of Microchip’s microcontroller business units. “High-speed peripherals and other integrated features reduce the need for certain external components and decrease system complexity by providing a high-performance solution.”.

Development Tools:
The PIC32A microcontrollers are supported by the MPLAB® XC32 compiler, the MPLAB Harmony embedded software development environment, and the dsPIC33A Curiosity platform development board (EV74H48A) and the PIC32AK1216GC41064 general-purpose DIM module (EV25Z08A). The Curiosity development board provides mikroBUS™ and Xplained Pro interfaces to enable expansion and connection to BIST XPRO (Built-in Self-Test Xplained Pro) expansion kits, sensors, and various Click boards™. A complete list of development tools is available on the PIC32A microcontroller webpage.
