These devices, now part of the TrustFLEX platform, are partially configured and incorporate Microchip's Soteria-G3 firmware to shorten the development time required to integrate the platform's root of trust. These devices also help expedite the delivery of the required cryptographic assets and subscribed firmware images, thereby simplifying the secure manufacturing process in accordance with NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) and OCP (Open Compute Project) standards.

The CEC1736 TrustFLEX devices, specifically designed to comply with NIST 800-193 platform guidelines and OCP requirements, can provide the necessary security features to enable hardware root trust in various markets. The Trust Platform Design Suite will allow customers to customize configuration settings for each platform, including unique credentials, to support any application, main processor, or SoC installed on an external SPI Flash device to extend system root trust.

“Microchip has led the market in optimizing secure delivery, from design to deployment of any number of devices and platforms. This broad portfolio of solutions now includes OCP-compliant root of trust devices,” said Nuri Dagdeviren, corporate vice president of Microchip’s Secure Computing Group. “With the preconfigured CEC1736 TrustFLEX family, we are making it easier for customers to implement platform root of trust, accelerate prototyping, and shorten time to market.”.

Modern firmware security features offered by CEC1736 TrustFLEX, such as SPI bus monitoring, secure boot, component accreditation, and lifecycle management, can protect pre-boot and real-time (check-time and usage-time) environments against on-site and remote threats.

The highly configurable, mixed-signal, advanced I/O CEC1736 controllers integrate a 32-bit, 96 MHz Arm® Cortex®-M4 processor core with tightly connected memory to optimize code execution and data access.

Development Tools:
Microchip's comprehensive ecosystem of tools makes developing initial designs easier. The CEC1736 TrustFLEX Configurator, part of the Trust Platform Design Suite, provides a visual representation of different use cases for selecting, configuring, and generating a package for development, prototyping, and production. The CEC1736 development board incorporates a socket for easier evaluation and development.
