The Microchip PIC18 K83 microcontrollers contain 15 time-saving CIPs on 28 pins with up to 64 KB of flash memory. The CIPs include digital peripherals such as three CWGs (Complementary Waveform Generators) that enable high-efficiency synchronous switching for motor control and two DMA (Direct Memory Access) controllers that allow data transfer between memory and peripherals without CPU involvement. The microcontrollers offer intelligent analog peripherals such as a 12-bit analog-to-digital converter with compute (ADC2) to automate analog signal analysis for real-time system response, and a CVD (Capacitive Voltage Divider) for advanced touch sensing, averaging, filtering, oversampling, and thresholding.
On-chip CIPs can be easily configured using the MPLAB® Code Configurator (MCC), a free software plugin that provides a graphical interface for configuring application-specific peripherals and functions. With the MCC tool, engineers can configure the PIC18 K83 microcontroller in just a few clicks. System designers can greatly benefit from time savings, as it is much easier to configure a hardware-based peripheral, rather than writing and validating an entire software routine, to perform a task.
The PIC18 K83 family of microcontrollers is ideal for applications using CAN in the medical, industrial, and automotive markets, such as motorized surgical tables, asset tracking, ultrasound machines, automated conveyors, and automotive accessories.
