The PIC12LF1840T48A has 4KWords of program memory, 256Bytes of SRAM memory and 256Bytes of non-volatile EEPROM memory. It has a 32MHz precision oscillator that allows you to select the working frequencies from 31KHz to 32MHz via software and allows up to 4 channels of capacitive sensing with mtouch technology, which is very useful for making wireless controllers without the need to add more external components.
Regarding the integrated transmitter, the output power is selectable between 0dBm and +10dBm, it has an FSK modulator up to 100Kbps or an OOK modulator up to 10Kbps and can transmit on any of the frequencies available in the ISM Sub GHz 418/433/868MHz bands.
The current consumption in active mode is only 35mA/MHz with the transmitter in sleep mode and 16.5mA with the transmitter at +10dBm output power. In sleep mode, the consumption is only 170nA, which extends battery life since the microcontroller is in this mode most of the time and will only wake up if the user presses a button. To further reduce power consumption, the PIC12LF1840 is optimized so that the transmitter wakes up quickly, transmits, and returns to sleep mode.
The PIC12LF1840T48A's feature set in a single 14-pin TSSOP package makes it ideal for space-, power-, and cost-constrained applications such as remote controls for car access, garage doors, and home security, as well as other home and building automation systems. Furthermore, the PIC12LF1840T48A is optimized to run Microchip's advanced, royalty-free KEELOQ® code technology, a proven security technology used worldwide by leading remote control manufacturers
To aid in development, a kit, application notes, source code, and documentation are available on implementing radio transmitter circuits with the PIC12LF1840T48A.
