Renesas MicrocontrollerThe new MCUs help reduce system costs and energy consumption in applications such as air conditioning systems, washing machines, solar inverter solutions, and lighting control.
The RX platform is built on the new RX CPU and is part of the new generation of MCUs, which integrate the functions of Renesas' existing 16-bit and 32-bit microcontrollers. The new group consists of six individual RX63T products.

As an extension of the RX62T line, the new RX63T group underscores Renesas' contribution to further miniaturization and cost reduction through smaller pin packages, reduced memory size, and enhanced safety features. The RX63T maintains close compatibility with the RX62T, allowing existing customers to easily design lower-memory versions of their RX62T designs using the RX63T.
The RX63T MCUs include two-phase and three-phase motor control timer units: a Multifunction Pulse Timer Unit 3 (MTU3) and a General Purpose 16-bit PWM Timer (GPT). Both timer units support the design of high-efficiency, low-cost system controllers. The MTU3 supports complementary PWM. The GPT can independently control four single-phase inverter channels, and the left and right dead time can be controlled individually.

The timer uses the same clock as the CPU at 80 MHz. This allows it to achieve a wide range of width measurements for PWM output waveforms with resolutions as small as 12.5 ns.

The RX63T family also incorporates enhanced analog functions to further reduce system costs and improve ease of use in motor vector control applications. It features a 12-bit A/D converter capable of capturing analog input values with a minimum conversion time of 1 ms.

The RX63T group of MCUs also incorporates many safety features, such as an independent control body with its own on-chip clock source (IWDT), a self-check function, a DOC (Data Operation Circuit) that allows RAM checking without CPU involvement, a CAC (clock frequency accuracy measurement circuit) to check clock frequencies, and an RWP (Register Write Protection) function that protects important registers from accidental overwriting.

The RX63T series devices provide a scalable memory solution ranging from 32K flash to 64KB flash with up to 8KB of embedded SRAM. They also include 8KB of independent data flash memory with a background operation (BGO) function that allows data to be written while a program is running. The integrated flash memory is based on Renesas' proven MONOS technology, which can be used without inserting a wait state. This enables a maximum performance level of 1.65 DMIPS/MHz at any CPU frequency, without any limitations inherent to flash technology. These products will be offered in 48-pin and 64-pin LQFP packages.
