The Omron B3SL is IP67 (IEC60529) hermetically sealed and offers enhanced resistance to dust ingress, helping to ensure it achieves its rated life of 100,000 operating cycles under harsh working conditions. This vertical tamper switch, characterized by its high actuation force of 1.96N, features precise click action. The B3SL incorporates a medium-stroke design thanks to a rubber plunger and a pre-travel of 0.3mm.
Andries de Bruin, Product Marketing Director for Switches at Omron in Europe, explains: “The B3SL brings Omron’s full range of tactile switches to applications in medicine and process control, such as overlay or standalone membrane keypads. The IP67-rated hermetically sealed versions are protected against contamination of the switching contacts in dusty environments and allow for immersion cleaning of the printed circuit board.”.
The B3SL is a compact design measuring only 6.2mm (length) x 6.5mm (width) x 3.4mm (height) and can handle switching currents from 1mA at 5VDC up to a maximum of 50mA at 12VDC with a resistive load. It features an insulation resistance of 100Mohms at 100VDC and a contact resistance of 100mohms. The B3SL switch has a maximum bounce time of 5ms and operates within a temperature range of -25°C to +90°C.
