The new series covers the output current range of 10 A to 412 A within the international voltage range of 220-575 V – three-phase AC, and is available in four sizes. The device is suitable for a wide variety of applications, including fans and exhaust fans; centrifugal and axial flow pumps; process metering pumps; agitators and mixers; conveyor belts; extruders; industrial dryers and ovens; roller tables; and ball or hammer mills.
The soft starter supports direct motor connection in star or delta configurations, as well as star-to-delta switching with six motor wires. This allows the three motor phases to be connected directly to the three thyristor pairs of the SSW900. As a result, the soft starter only needs to supply 58% of the motor's rated current (corresponding to the phase current). The device integrates a bypass contactor to extend service life, optimize space utilization, and reduce heat dissipation (to almost zero) in the electrical cabinet. Operation is further enhanced by a real-time clock and diagnostic and status-checking functions. Three stopping methods and a fast-start function expand the application possibilities.
The LCD screen and a new user interface simplify operation and allow users to quickly and easily make programming changes. Wizard functions provide assistance with commissioning and programming. Integrated USB functionality in the user interface allows users to configure soft-boot parameters using the free Windows-based WPS software and program the internal SoftPLC with the equally free WLP software.
The user interface language options include German, Spanish, English, and Portuguese. For device connectivity, users have access to the following industrial communication protocols: Modbus RTU, Profibus DP, DeviceNet, Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP, and Profinet I/O.
