Panasonic's NS series "Gold" capacitors are radially wound lead-acid devices that achieve higher capacitance than aluminum electrolytic capacitors (up to 1,000 times greater) and offer better charging performance than secondary batteries. The added benefit of rapid charge and discharge cycles (over 100,000) and exceptional aging characteristics makes Panasonic's HL series ELDC capacitors an ideal component for applications such as backup power supplies for servers and storage devices, auxiliary power supplies for solar energy products, including street lighting, and controller support for motors and actuators in various markets.

The maximum operating voltage for the HL Series is 2.7VDC, and the nominal capacitance ranges from 50 µF to 100 µF. These ELDCs are also guaranteed to maintain their capacitance and internal resistance without drift at low temperatures, unlike the competition, where capacitance and internal resistance can change by up to ±30% and ≤7 times, respectively, from the initial measured values. Both the 50 µF and 100 µF devices in the NS Series have a lifetime warranty of 2,000 hours at +65°C. For power backup applications, aging characteristics influence the choice of EDLC due to the increase in internal resistance and the rapid decrease in capacitance. Because of the unique electrolyte used in Panasonic components, these aging effects are mitigated, and space is further reduced.

Mustafa Khan, Capacitor Marketing Director at Panasonic, comments: "Our new HL series raises the bar for reliability, durability, and scalability in power backup solutions, offering opportunities for cost and space savings. Another reason for the growing market interest in our EDLCs is the use of leak-free electrolytic material, which does not result in the release of hydrogen cyanide. This differentiation in the US market has appealed to many environmentally conscious customers.".
