The year 2025 was marked by both challenges and opportunities, as uncertainty continued in the global economic and business environment. Pickering focused on serving its customers by investing in new products, its global engineering teams, and improving customer service worldwide.
“The first few months of 2025 were characterized by global uncertainty, particularly in the manufacturing sector, as increased import tariffs on goods entering North America had repercussions across all industries,” said Joe Woodford, Group Director of Global Sales and Marketing at Pickering. “However, as the year progressed, stability returned, and many sectors resumed more typical investment patterns. We saw a clear market recovery in the aerospace and defense, new space, eVTOL, and scientific research sectors, all of which played a significant role in the recovery. The automotive sector has remained active, although there has been a noticeable slowdown in some parts of Europe, particularly in the electric vehicle market.” “Despite the uncertainty at the beginning of the year,” Woodford continued, “2025 was a very active and successful year for us. We continued to invest heavily in our global engineering and customer support teams and launched several key products.”
Key highlights in switching and simulation include:
• A new12-slot, fully hybrid 2U chassis: Built on the LXI platform, this chassis features hot-swappable control and power units, allowing customers to house up to 24 PXI 3U modules in the same space traditionally occupied by a 4U PXI system.
• A10 Gigabit T1 FIU PXI/PXIe switch: This world-first, MEMS-based switch makes fault testing the latest automotive Ethernet standards more cost-effective and accessible.
• A new 5-amp battery simulator for PXI and PXIe: A significant improvement over previous 300mA simulators, this 5A battery simulator is designed to simplify and accelerate BMS (Battery Management System) testing.
• The largest BRIC switch topology in our history: designed for a large-scale quantum computing research project, this system supports an exceptionally high number of crossover points and lays the foundation for future applications requiring advanced connectivity and complexity.
