With power consumption starting at just 11 watts, the new low-power, multi-purpose server with up to 16 core modules delivers up to 4x 10 GbE real-time networking throughput. The feature set is designed for modular industrial micro servers, as well as rugged telecom and networking equipment such as small cells, factory gateways, and storage systems, and can be deployed across a wide temperature range from -40°C to +85°C. Based on the new PICMG COM Express 3.0 specification, the conga-B7AC is ideal for efficient custom designs of very small, passively cooled embedded edge devices, using standardized, commercially available building blocks.
"Distributed embedded edge devices supporting 10 GbE bandwidth can be used as small cells for next-generation LTE networks, device nodes for cyber-virtual factories, or local data centers for sensor networks. For these tasks, they need to manage large communication bandwidths and real-time TCP/IP storage. These edge data centers have to offer enormous multicore capabilities but lower speed per core, since they generally only handle smaller packet sizes. This is the application area where the new Intel Atom C3000 server-grade processors are a perfect addition to our range of server modules based on the Intel Xeon D processor. They now allow us to deliver deep network bandwidth and storage capabilities in the most cost-effective and energy-efficient fields," explains Martin Danzer, Director of Product Management at congatec.
Congatec's new COM-Express Type 7 server modules are applications ready for redundancy, real-time communication, and virtualization technologies to maximize uptime and resilience, minimize latency, and get the most out of every processing core. Their cloud API for distributed embedded edge servers also provides all the capabilities data center administrators need to remotely monitor system health, power consumption, and environmental information. Supporting up to 20 PCI Express (PCIe) lanes, the new COM-Express Type 7 server modules, based on the Intel Atom C3000 processor, also offer minimal latency for storage devices, as well as high-speed access lanes to various sensor networks, fieldbuses, and industrial Ethernets.
The
new Conga-B7AC COM Express Type 7 server modules are available with eight different Intel Atom processors, ranging from the 16-core Intel® Atom™ C3958 to the quad-core C3508, for an industrial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. All modules provide up to 48GB of fast 2400MHz DDR4 memory with or without Error Correction Code (ECC), depending on customer requirements. They offer high-performance networking capabilities with up to 4x 10GbE and a Network Controller Interface (NC-SI) for connecting a motherboard management controller (BMC), enabling out-of-band remote management. Flexible system expansions, including NVMe flash storage, can be connected via up to 12 PCIe Gen 3.0 lanes and 8 PCIe Gen 2.0 lanes. Two SATA 6G ports are available for conventional storage media. Other I/O interfaces include 2x USB 3.0, 4x USB 2.0, LPC, SPI, I2C Bus, and 2x UART. Additionally, the module houses a Trusted Platform Module (TPM) for security-sensitive network devices.
Congatec offers comprehensive support packages for all current 64-bit versions of Microsoft Windows, as well as Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server. In addition, a wide range of accessories is available, including cooling solutions and the new COM Express Type 7 evaluation carrier board, which simplifies design.
