The new module combines CPU, GPU, and NPU processing capabilities in a compact 95 × 95 mm form factor, facilitating the local execution of AI applications with less reliance on cloud connectivity. It is targeted at sectors such as robotics, industrial automation, machine vision, medical image processing, and advanced visualization systems.
Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors and AI acceleration
The C6C-PLH supports different Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors with configurations of up to 16 cores, accompanied by Intel Iris Xe graphics with up to 12 Xe cores.
The combination of CPU, GPU, and neural processing unit enables real-time analytics, visual inspection, anomaly detection, predictive maintenance, and intelligent control to run directly on the device. The integrated NPU accelerates AI workloads, while the GPU provides graphics processing, multimedia visualization, and hardware video acceleration capabilities.
These features allow the module to be used in autonomous industrial equipment, HMI platforms, and medical systems that require image and video processing.
Up to 96GB of LPDDR5x memory and four independent displays
The module supports up to 96 GB of LPDDR5x memory, with various in-band ECC options for applications requiring higher reliability. It also allows for the connection of up to four independent displays, facilitating the development of operator interfaces and advanced visualization systems. Key communication interfaces include PCI Express Gen 4, USB4, and 2.5 Gb Ethernet, the latter based on the Intel i226 controller. The COM Express Type 6 configuration allows the module to be integrated into compatible carrier boards, enabling the development of custom systems leveraging a well-established standard.
Designed for demanding industrial environments
The Tria C6C-PLH incorporates features designed for industrial applications with continuous availability and operational requirements. These include support for Intel Time Coordinated Computing (TCC) and Time Sensitive Networking (TSN), technologies aimed at improving time coordination and deterministic communications. Versions with an operating temperature range of -40 to +85 °C are also available, ready for 24/7 operation.
In terms of security, the module supports TPM 2.0, while its software compatibility includes Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2024 and a Yocto-based Linux BSP distribution.
Modular integration and long-term availability
Tria Technologies complements the C6C-PLH with evaluation carrier boards and cooling solutions, designed to facilitate the development, prototyping and integration phases.
According to Daniel Denzler, vice president of Tria Technologies, industrial customers need platforms capable of running demanding workloads over extended lifecycles, in addition to having processing power. The manufacturer emphasizes that COM Express's modular architecture allows for the development of artificial intelligence solutions from initial testing to scalable and maintainable industrial products.
