This occurs when one of the devices or systems involved in the communication does not correctly follow the agreed rules for data exchange, which can cause errors, loss of information, or interruption of communication.
Designed and manufactured in France, this XMC Ethernet card offers an alternative to other options on the market. It is produced at Eviden's facilities in Aix-en-Provence by teams specializing in mission-critical systems. The XMC complements Eviden's range of MLS Gateway solutions, multi-level security gateways that enable bidirectional communication between networks of different classifications.
Eviden's new XMC Ethernet card is designed to effectively protect data. It incorporates powerful protection mechanisms that filter information, detect problems, and report anomalies, ensuring secure and reliable transmission.
Combined with a mission-critical system's dual CPU card , the Eviden XMC Ethernet card is configurable, allowing systems to evolve. It offers the ability to split data between open and secure environments when a protocol break is required for security and confidentiality reasons.
It can be integrated at the mezzanine level with third-party embedded computers (aircraft, naval, or land-based), as well as with Eviden's MLS Gateway multi-level gateway solutions. The XMC Ethernet Switch card is a daughterboard compatible with third-party systems that use embedded computers—that is, computers designed to perform specific functions within a larger system, such as an aircraft, ship, or military ground vehicle—and is fully compatible with Eviden's proprietary security solutions.
Designed for the highest levels of criticality, the Eviden XMC Ethernet card supports multiple protocols and the AFDX standard , enabling seamless integration into existing aeronautical systems. It is also certifiable according to DO-254 DAL A and was developed following standards that allow for CC EAL 4+ certification. The card incorporates technology from Cetrac.io, a company specializing in hardware switching technologies and an Eviden partner.
Bernard Payer, Director of Mission Critical Systems at Eviden, Atos Group, stated: “Eviden’s XMC Ethernet card is a fusion of technologies designed to ensure the security and segmentation of critical information flows, without relying on foreign technologies or operators. Our next-generation Ethernet switching solution offers operators in mission-critical environments a sovereign tool that fully reflects the expertise of our teams. I am particularly proud to announce the availability of this solution.”
Grades:
1- XMC: Mezzanine Switch Card. A mezzanine card is a secondary electronic board (or daughterboard) that, when connected to a main board (or motherboard), allows adding specific functionalities to a computer or embedded system without changing the basic architecture.
2- CPU: Central Processing Unit
3- UDP, TCP, ICMP, ARP, IP (these are left untranslated as they are standardized acronyms for network protocols)
4- AFDX: Switched Full Duplex Ethernet for Avionics
5- DO 254 DAL A: The highest level of criticality according to the DAL (Design Assurance Level), which classifies software according to the potential impact of its failures on the safety of aeronautical systems.
6- CC EAL 4+: Common Criteria Level 4 evaluation system, "designed, tested, and verified methodically".
