Equipped with Advantech’s Quadro Flow Cooling System (QFCS), the module enables easy assembly and quiet operation. Advantech also offers developers comprehensive services, including UEFI BIOS, Windows 11, and the EdgeAI SDK software, facilitating a seamless migration between different computing architectures. With its performance, 10-year product lifecycle, and comprehensive support, the SOM-6820 expands possibilities for applications in medical imaging, machine vision, critical systems, and humanoid robotics.
Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon® X-Elite and X Plus series processors, the SOM-6820 features up to 12 cores and delivers a 51% performance increase over comparable x86 platforms, according to a Qualcomm report. It also combines AI capabilities with the Adreno GPU (up to 4.6 TFLOPS) and integrated Hexagon NPU (up to 45 TOPS), enabling accelerated on-device inference. The X-Elite's improved energy efficiency and AI performance enhance inference quality and processing speed in applications such as medical imaging and computer vision. It also reduces the need for external graphics cards.
To complement the SoC's optimized efficiency, the SOM-6820 incorporates integrated low-power LPDDR5x memory—supporting up to 64 GB (8448 MT/s)—and up to 256 GB of integrated UFS 3.1 storage for fast data access. With an operating temperature range of -40°C to 85°C, the SOM-6820 ensures stable performance even in harsh environments. Designed for flexible configuration, it supports 14 PCIe lanes, enabling connectivity for up to 5 end devices. Additional interfaces include 4 USB 3.0 ports, 4 SATA3 ports, and 1 GbE LAN port.
The SOM-6820 is compatible with Advantech's Quadro Flow Cooling System (QFCS), enabling quiet operation and sustained 100% performance at 45W and 60°C. Beyond hardware, the SOM-6820 supports Windows 11, allowing for a smooth migration from x86-based applications. It also features a UEFI BIOS designed with x86 use cases in mind, simplifying hardware and firmware configuration through intuitive BIOS menus. For AI implementation, Advantech offers the EdgeAI SDK software, a rapid development kit that facilitates the evaluation, development, and deployment of AI solutions. These comprehensive services make adopting and migrating to the SOM-6820 simpler and more efficient.
