The E-size COM-HPC expansion delivers server-level performance with an optimized pin layout that supports up to 572W of board-to-board power. Powered by its 8004-series EPYC™ Embedded processor, the SOM-E781 also supports up to 576GB of memory and 79 PCIe lanes up to Gen5 (1.24 times more than the standard E-size COM-HPC server), while maintaining a maximum power consumption of 200 watts. The SOM-E781 is designed to excel in large-scale data processing management with support for CXL 1.1 expansion.
Using the SOM-RD10 on top adds even more features such as remote KVM and IPMI.

Advantech's E-size COM-HPC extension, powered by the AMD EPYC™ Embedded processor, offers up to 64 cores and 128 threads, delivering 1.9 times the performance of comparable x86 solutions while maintaining efficient power consumption below 200W for the 8004 series EPYC™ Embedded processor. The SOM-E781 also supports up to 576GB of DDR5 4800MT/s memory.

High-performance edge servers rely on high-speed PCIe bays to support expansion cards such as network interface cards (NICs), solid-state drives (SSDs), and graphics/FPGA cards for a variety of applications. Among all the expansion requirements, Compute Express Link (CXL) plays a critical role in high-performance edge servers. The SOM-E781 features 48 CXL-compatible lanes out of its 79 PCIe lanes, enabling advanced features such as memory sharing between system nodes.

Compared to the standard E-size COM-HPC server, the SOM-E781 increases the number of PCIe lanes from 64 to 79 with an optimized pin layout, offering the highest number of PCIe lanes available on the market.

Remote monitoring is an essential feature in edge servers, and Advantech's BMC system (SOM-RD10) is compliant with the Open Compute Project's 'RunBMC' specification. This ensures seamless BMC integration and offers a variety of BMC firmware options, reference designs, and module deployment services. In addition to hardware solutions, Advantech offers a comprehensive suite of software, including DeviceOn for remote monitoring and control. The EdgeAI SDK further enables the evaluation, development, and deployment of AI on edge servers running AI models.

Advantech also supplies validated, ready-to-use operating systems such as Windows Server and Ubuntu.

Besides the SOM-E781, Advantech's COM-HPC Size E series includes the SOM-E780, equipped with the EPYC™ 7003 series processor, providing customers with multiple edge server deployment options and addressing the various stages of their needs.
