This new evaluation board implements a three-output isolated return designed to supply power-line communication and smart metering systems, in a PCB design specifically engineered to fit inside a real field-deployed meter. The core of the application is a high-voltage VIPer26HD offline converter from ST's VIPerPlus family.

The ST STEVAL-ISA175V1 evaluation board, available from Mouser Electronics, features an integrated VIPer26HD IC with a robust 800V power MOSFET, 115 kHz PWM operation with frequency jitter for reduced electromagnetic interference (EMI), and current limiting with an adjustable setting point. The board also offers integrated soft and safe auto-restart after a fault. The board's power supply operates across a wide input voltage range of 90 to 264VAC (up to 440VAC in case of overvoltage) for use with a phase-to-phase connection in a three-phase network.
