Electronic Assembly designed the 2-inch TFT020-23 as a full-color alternative to the monochrome graphic displays widely used in handheld devices. Despite its compact size of only 36 x 52 mm, it boasts a very high resolution of 240 x 320 pixels. With a brightness of 1000 cd/m², it delivers bright images in offices, production rooms, or operating rooms, even in direct sunlight. Thanks to IPS technology, sharp, defined contrast is maintained across a wide 160° viewing angle, and colors remain consistent even at the most oblique viewing angles.
A single connector combines all the display's control lines, backlight, and even the optional touch panel with 39 pins and a 0.5 mm pitch. The version with a capacitive touch surface, which includes the I²C controller, is called the EA TFT020-23AITC. This version measures 43 x 65 mm. The touch panel (PCAP) is optically bonded for a clear, low-reflection display.
The TFT screen operates directly at 3.3 V and requires no additional auxiliary voltage. The SPI interface ensures simple control with all common microcontrollers thanks to the integrated display RAM. The same screen can also be accessed via a classic RGB interface. Finally, connection to an 8-bit or 16-bit data bus is also possible.
Since both models were designed as portable displays for outdoor use and heavy-duty applications, they can withstand ambient temperatures from -20°C to +70°C. Their lifespan is 50,000 hours.
