The new PC boasts nearly twice the power of its predecessor and offers exceptional application flexibility thanks to its five PCI/PCIe slots. The Simatic IPC827C is ideal for fast-paced measurement, control, and visualization tasks at the machine's edge. This robust PC is designed for 24/7 operation, even in environments with high temperatures, vibrations, shocks, and electromagnetic interference.
The new Simatic IPC827C Box PC stands out for its speed in processing large volumes of data in sophisticated automation applications. It features a latest-generation Intel Core i3 or i7 processor and is equipped with up to 4 GB
of DDR3 memory, optionally with integrated ECC error correction. The integrated high-definition graphics controller has been improved, delivering 3 to 5 times the performance of its predecessor, enabling fast visualization solutions.
A powerful graphics card can be added via a PCIe-x16 slot. Featuring Intel's latest Mobile technology, the Box PC stands out for its low power consumption and high energy efficiency. This is further enhanced by the power supply, with over
80 percent efficiency, and the wake-on-LAN functionality. The Core i7 variant, powered by Intel's Active Management Technology (AMT), enables password-protected remote access. This allows authorized technicians to remotely manage, maintain, and troubleshoot the industrial PC.

The Simatic IPC827C is compatible in terms of mounting dimensions and software with its predecessor. It shares the same features as the already available Simatic IPC627C. For expansion, the Simatic IPC627C has two free PCI/PCIe slots; the new Simatic IPC827C Box PC has five. For configuring systems without hard drives, this new PC offers two additional CompactFlash card slots, easily accessible from the outside, and a 32GB Solid State Drive (SSD) with Single Level Cell (SLC) architecture, suitable for industrial applications. The Box PC can be mounted in numerous ways, such as on a wall, and supports all types of mounting, including a book-style design. All interfaces and functional elements are accessible from the front, e.g., the two Gigabit Ethernet connections compatible with teaming and four high-speed USB 2.0 ports.
The motherboard incorporates a RAID 1 controller and, as an option, a Profibus or Profinet interface with a 3-port IRT switch. Two programmable 7-segment displays and two LEDs signal BIOS initialization and enable quick diagnostics of the operating status, even within software applications. The built-in DVI-I port allows connection of a Simatic flat-panel monitor up to 30 meters away from the PC. In the event of an unexpected power outage, a 2 MB SRAM backed up by a battery retains critical data, such as
that used for production control.
Windows Embedded Standard 2009, Windows 7 Ultimate, and Windows XP Professional operating systems are available pre-installed and activated as options. The new Simatic IPC827C, like all PCs in the Simatic range, offers excellent investment security. It is supplied for five years in the same version, and after its discontinuation, spare parts availability is guaranteed for at least five years.
