These include artificial intelligence, sensor fusion, cyber-secure tactical gateways, and real-time analytics.
The HARAKAN-F2-2 will be showcased at Embedded World 2026, taking place from March 10-12 in Nuremberg, Germany.
Designed and manufactured in Europe, with complete control over design, production, and long-term support at a single location, the HARAKAN-F2-2 benefits from a controlled and transparent supply chain, robust configuration management, and long-term program continuity. The system is ITAR-free and BAFA-free, enabling greater deployment flexibility in international defense programs.
Built on a modular architecture based on VPX blocks aligned with the SOSA® technical standard, the HARAKAN-F2-2 allows systems integrators to develop VPX-based defense applications more quickly and with less risk.
Sébastien Vitre, Product Manager for rugged systems at Kontron, explains:
“With the latest variant of HARAKAN, defense integrators can securely and reliably run multiple mission-critical applications at the edge, even in the most demanding environments. The platform combines high-performance computing with configurable flexibility, enabling customers to respond to constantly evolving mission requirements, from tactical edge processing to complex virtualized sensor fusion environments. Furthermore, with new configurations under development, including GPU-enabled variants, the HARAKAN family is expanding into a comprehensive portfolio for edge AI, multisensor fusion, and accelerated analytics.”
The SWaP-optimized VPX form factor includes two 3U VPX slots, providing flexibility to adapt processing, networking, and I/O interface capabilities as mission needs evolve.
The system also integrates advanced cybersecurity features, such as hardware root of trust, secure boot, and system monitoring tools, which help ensure mission integrity from power-up to operational deployment.
The Kontron HARAKAN-F2-2 is available now and offers a minimum product lifecycle of 10 years. Services are also available to notify customers of significant changes in monitored configurations and ensure continued production even beyond the product's end-of-life. Warranty extensions of up to five years are also available.
