ds87-hi-backview-wThe Shuttle barebone DS87 fits seamlessly into the successful series of rugged DS models. Furthermore, the new model can withstand the elements. Encased in a black steel housing, it resists mechanical stress and outdoor temperatures from 0-50°C. The DS87 also comes with the highly valued VESA mount, allowing the device to be mounted on displays and other surfaces.

ds87-hi-3d view-lwTwo DisplayPort connections and one HDMI connection allow you to control three high-resolution displays with different content. Using commercially available passive adapters, the DisplayPort connection can be converted to HDMI or DVI.

This model can also use 4K monitors at 60 Hz with DisplayPort and 30 Hz with HDMI. For playback on three 1080p (Full HD) screens or one 2160p (4K/Ultra HD) screen, an Intel Core processor is recommended.

The DS87 is based on the Intel H87 chipset, making it compatible with current Intel Core processors with the LGA1150 socket and a TDP of up to 65 watts. Two SO-DIMM slots allow for up to 16 GB of DDR3 memory. A 2.5" SSD/HDD with SATA 6 Gbit/s is also included. If another internal drive is needed, one of the two Mini-PCI-Express slots can be used for an mSATA SSD. The second slot can be used, for example, to integrate a WLAN module.

Like the other models in the DS series, the DS87 features numerous inputs and outputs on both the front and rear, namely: 2x USB 3.0, 6x USB 2.0, line out, microphone, 2x DisplayPort, 1x HDMI, 2x Gigabit Ethernet, and 2x RS-232.
The front of the compact device, measuring 19 x 16.5 x 4.3 cm (D x W x H), also houses an SD card reader.

Beyond conventional areas of use, such as the desktop, dual Gigabit Ethernet, RS-232, continuous power jumper and remote power connection allow the device to be used as a reliable solution in demanding environments.
