Building on the same technology, performance, and cost-effectiveness as its two predecessors, the UR5 and UR10, Universal Robots now brings this pioneering concept to the workbench. The UR3 robot enables the automation of workbenches thanks to its compact size, allowing it to work side-by-side with people without the need for safety barriers. Like the UR5 and UR10, the UR3 requires no advanced knowledge for configuration and assembly.
The new UR3 robot weighs only 10.9 kg, but has a payload capacity of 3 kg, along with ±360-degree rotation in its six joints and infinite rotation on the upper end axis. These unique features position the UR3 as the most flexible and lightweight desktop collaborative robot in the industry.
The UR3 is an ideal assistant for assembly, polishing, gluing, or screwing applications requiring uniform product finishes, or for preventing operators from working in toxic environments or with hazardous materials. The new robot can be mounted on a table, creating and optimizing independent workstations. Its compact design and user-friendly programming system, characteristic of Universal Robots, make it easy to configure for diverse tasks in dynamic manufacturing environments where flexible and adaptable solutions are needed, minimizing start-up costs and offering the fastest return on investment in the industry.
The UR3 boasts a repeatability of ±0.1 mm, allowing it to follow the contour of a workpiece by touch, identifying the path to follow—for example, the aluminum edge of a smartphone—without the need to program precise movements and coordinates, which would require inputting more than 100 points. Furthermore, and as a new feature, the UR3 incorporates an infinite rotation axis at its upper end, expanding its range of applications into areas previously unimaginable.
