New this year, the Forum is being offered in two formats, allowing attendees to choose the one that best suits their needs. In addition to in-person attendance, sessions can be streamed online. In either format, participants will enjoy over 15 presentations from national and international experts addressing legislation that currently affects, or may affect in the future, their businesses. Topics covered include Brexit, REACH, the Circular Economy, microplastics, the use of recycled materials and bioplastics, food contact materials, and NIAS (National Information Standards).
New legislation applicable to the plastics sector.
To open the seminar, FEIQUE will clarify how Brexit affects the sector. DECERNIS will discuss tools to ensure compliance with legislation, while ANAIP and FOOD PACKAGING FORUM will address the highly relevant topic of plastics and the Circular Economy. Microplastics are under scrutiny, and AIMPLAS will explain the current situation, implications, health risks, and how they affect businesses. AEMPS will reveal the latest developments in the medical device regulations, while UNE will emphasize the value of standardization in the development of plastic products.
After the lunch break, those attending the event in person will visit the AIMPLAS facilities, and the day will end with a workshop on the Veritas project, which is developing a Blockchain application to ensure traceability in plastic food packaging.
Food Contact Materials:
KELLER HECKMAN will open the second day of the Forum with his presentation on Regulation (EU) No 10/2011, which establishes the rules for plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with food. This will be followed by a presentation from DECERNIS explaining the differences between European, FDA, and Chinese legislation.
The Technological Laboratory of Uruguay (LATU) will present the MERCOSUR regulation for materials in contact with food and after the coffee break, AIMPLAS will talk about recycled plastic materials in contact with food and the new modification of Regulation 282/2008, the application of food contact legislation to biopolymers and the current situation and new developments in internationally non-added substances (NIAS).
To conclude the seminar, the Ministry of Health will reveal the new challenges for the control of materials in contact with food.
This edition of okPlast is supported by the sponsoring company DECERNIS.
Safe Space:
Due to the current health situation and based on the recommendations of the Ministry of Health and the WHO, AIMPLAS has defined protocols and taken measures to guarantee the safety of all attendees and speakers at its conferences. In this regard, participants' temperatures will be checked upon entry, registration at reception will be online, and all documentation will be sent electronically. Hand sanitizer will be available throughout the venue, and personal protective equipment will be provided.
Regarding the conference rooms, ventilation will be ensured and capacity has been reduced to guarantee a two-meter distance between attendees. Furthermore, these rooms undergo cleaning and disinfection with nebulization and virucides authorized by the Ministry. Cleaning services in restrooms and toilets will also be reinforced throughout the event.
Regarding networking, attendees' contact information will be provided with GDPR consent. For coffee and lunch services, a safe catering protocol has been defined with strict hygiene measures throughout the preparation process, presentation in individualized kit formats, and delivery in a spacious catering area that allows for social distancing.
