With the increasing application of new technologies in vehicles, both sectors are becoming ever more interconnected. This agreement aims to establish a framework for collaboration between both associations in R&D activities and cross-sectoral strategy. Component manufacturers invest more than 4% of their revenue in R&D to provide technologically advanced products and systems.
Among the activities that will be developed as a result of this agreement, the following stand out: actions aimed at positioning Spain as a leading and benchmark country in the automotive and ICT sectors; participation in joint projects both nationally and internationally; and collaboration on talent and future skills, among other initiatives.
The Director General of AMETIC, María Teresa Gómez, highlights “the leadership of the Spanish digital industry in areas such as intelligent transport systems, electronics and sensors, connectivity and data processing, mobility management, and cybersecurity, which involve technologies such as big data, machine learning, cloud computing, 5G, blockchain, and virtual and augmented reality, and have the capacity to generate new business models. Together with Sernauto, we are already working on defining a major, driving project in the field of mobility that will position Spain at the forefront internationally in this area.”
For his part, the Director General of SERNAUTO, José Portilla, emphasizes that “this agreement will help promote actions that allow us to remain at the forefront of developing the vehicle of the future. In this sense, this agreement represents a magnificent opportunity to leverage the immense technological potential of the automotive components and ICT sectors.”.
