Atos announces that it has been selected by Automotive Cells Company (ACC), a European manufacturer of batteries for electric vehicles (EVs), for the supervision and maintenance of the IT infrastructure operations of its three gigafactories located in France, Germany and Italy.

ACC needs a robust IT infrastructure to achieve its production target of more than 2 million lithium-ion batteries per year by 2030, representing 120 GWh of energy. The first of its gigafactories, in Billy-Berclau (northern France), will be operational by the end of 2023, marking ACC's official entry into the market. When it reaches its full capacity of 40 GWh, the Billy-Berclau plant will account for one-third of ACC's total production. The electric vehicle battery manufacturer then plans to increase its capacity by commissioning two more gigafactories powered by Atos: one in Kaiserslautern (Germany) in 2025 and another in Termoli (Italy) in 2026.

ACC, backed by European authorities, TotalEnergies-Saft, Stellantis, and Mercedes, aims to become Europe's leading manufacturer of high-capacity, sustainable, and affordable batteries for electric vehicles. Three years after its creation, ACC already has an R&D center in Bruges, near Bordeaux, and is strengthening its operations with a pilot plant in Nersac (southwest France) and its first gigafactory in Billy-Berclau, in the north of the country.
