Through this acquisition, a team of 21 specialists will join Dassault Systèmes, and elecworks will accelerate the development of an integrated mechatronics solution on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

elecworks' software provides schematic design, electrical control panel design, and wiring design capabilities that will form the basis of SOLIDWORKS Electrical. It also includes a library of over half a million electrical symbols and manufacturing data for free use in designs.

The so-called Internet of Experiences—intelligent and autonomous experiences that digitally connect products, nature, and life in the physical world—is underpinned by the market for connected devices, which is expected to reach 30 billion devices by 2020. High-tech, industrial equipment, and energy resource companies must integrate sensors, controls, and capabilities into their smart products to deliver appropriate experiences. This can be greatly complicated if mechanical and electrical design processes are isolated.
