To this end, the projects submitted by Ficosa encompass research and development initiatives, as well as infrastructure investments to strengthen the industrial value chain.
Among the registered projects, the implementation of a new production line at Ficosa's Viladecavalls plant in Barcelona stands out. This line is dedicated to the manufacture of a Cell Management Controller (CMC). This advanced solution allows for the management and monitoring of the operation of the cells that make up an electric vehicle's battery, enhancing efficiency and performance in mobility.
Likewise, the research area includes various cutting-edge projects focused on exploring new solutions to create more efficient, safe, and sustainable experiences. An example of this is the project submitted as part of the PERTE (Special Plan for the Recovery of Electric and Connected Vehicles) application. This project aims to research and develop new autonomous driving functionalities for passenger vehicles in urban environments through sensor fusion.
In total, the various projects that Ficosa has registered under the PERTE program for Electric and Connected Vehicles (EVs) and the PERTE program for microelectronics and semiconductors have a combined budget of approximately €110 million.
Javier Pujol, CEO of Ficosa, comments: “At a crucial moment of transition for the industry, Spain has the talent and the conditions to be a strategic player in building the mobility of the future. And, to achieve this, public-private collaboration plays a key role. Therefore, through the various projects we are submitting within the framework of the Government's PERTE program, at Ficosa we want to continue contributing and helping to accelerate the transformation towards a more innovative, more competitive, and greener economy.”
