This new selection once again highlights GS Yuasa's expertise in advanced lithium-ion battery technologies, as well as its ongoing contribution to the development of increasingly efficient electrified vehicles worldwide.
The cells and modules integrated into the EHW4GA are manufactured and marketed by Blue Energy Co., Ltd., a GS Yuasa Group company specializing in high-performance lithium-ion batteries for hybrid vehicles. This technology is also used in the new Toyota RAV4.
Maintaining dimensions and mass comparable to those of current mass-produced Blue Energy products, the cells offer an increase of more than 10% in energy density.
Advanced low-resistance technology has also made it possible to improve by more than 10% the charging and discharging characteristics required by hybrid vehicle systems, helping to optimize overall battery performance.
Additional improvements have also been made to the module. The adoption of a die-cast housing reduces both the number of individual components required and the overall weight of the module, contributing to a more efficient battery design.
David Arnold, Sales Director for the European automotive aftermarket at GS Yuasa Battery Europe Ltd., said: “GS Yuasa has long had a strong reputation for battery innovation, and this new selection is yet another clear demonstration of the technology and engineering expertise that underpin our business.
As hybrid and electrified propulsion systems continue to evolve, battery performance, efficiency, and reliability are becoming increasingly important. Achieving significant improvements in both energy density and charge/discharge performance, while maintaining comparable dimensions and weight, demonstrates the ongoing development taking place throughout the GS Yuasa Group.
For our customers and partners across Europe, advances like this reinforce the breadth of knowledge, experience, and technological capability associated with the GS Yuasa name, from original equipment applications to the automotive battery market as a whole.”.
GS Yuasa created Blue Energy in 2009 as a joint venture dedicated to the development, manufacturing, and marketing of high-performance lithium-ion batteries for hybrid vehicles.
Since then, Blue Energy has accumulated extensive experience in the field of automotive electrification, supplying batteries for more than 4.15 million hybrid vehicles.
Through the continuous development of advanced battery technologies and its extensive experience in automotive applications, GS Yuasa will continue to support the adoption and larger-scale development of environmentally friendly vehicles.
