The total investment in the new plant is £3.8 million, of which £1 million has been allocated to state-of-the-art equipment; the last machines will arrive within the next 12 months. The new equipment utilizes advanced Industry 4.0 technology to achieve maximum efficiency.
“Harwin is at the forefront of technological development in high-reliability interconnect components, and growing customer demand means we have once again exceeded our production capacity,” said Paul McGuinness, Chief Operating Officer at Harwin. “This investment has come at a crucial time, as the additional manufacturing space and new equipment allow us to ramp up production to meet strong demand quickly. This extra space also enables us to maintain more than six months’ worth of raw material supplies on-site, preparing us to address unforeseen supply chain disruptions related to Brexit and preventing delays in fulfilling our customers’ orders.”.
The company has a policy of replacing production equipment every five years to implement the latest machinery advancements and maintain operational reliability and effectiveness. A new 3,000 m² factory was opened in 2016, while an R&D Center and an Apprenticeship Training Center were built in 2019. This latter investment also includes a new training area dedicated to the ongoing professional development of the workforce, aiming to foster skills development and workplace flexibility as the company grows.
