This project aims to implement new business models for the large-scale use of reusable plastic packaging through a multidisciplinary approach that combines social, technological, and economic innovation. The project will leverage innovation in materials and consumer psychology to propose viable reusable packaging solutions.
Furthermore, it will foster synergies among different companies in the value chain to manufacture packaging that meets the stringent requirements of end users, promoting innovation and recyclability in reusable packaging.
The project will develop innovative container washing solutions that guarantee consumer safety from potential contamination, as well as durable and functional reusable packaging materials suitable for repeated use and capable of addressing food waste.
BUDDIE-PACK is expected to exponentially reduce the production of single-use plastic packaging, as well as water and energy consumption, and contribute to the reduction of microplastics in the oceans. The new business models must be sustainable for each of the proposed solutions, with profitability and social sustainability being key factors for their success.
The project consortium comprises 19 partners from six countries, and the project is expected to last three and a half years, with a budget of approximately seven million euros. The project partners are: IPC, Trivéo, ACTIA, CTCPA, LNE, Technological University of the Shannon, AIMPLAS, Searious Business BV, Vytal Global GmbH, Eternity Systems, Uzaje, Betelgeux, Plasmion GmbH, Knauf Industries Gestion, Auzo Lagun S. Coop, Dawn Meats Group, Plasticos Vicent, Echo Brand Design, and the University of Sheffield.
