The Community's hydrogen project will be developed along five lines of action: identifying opportunities within the Galician geography across the entire hydrogen value chain; designing and implementing specific instruments and tools to introduce hydrogen into industry; committing to specialized training for the Galician community to make the region a benchmark for clean energy talent; researching and creating innovative solutions for industry related to green hydrogen; and, finally, developing the infrastructure to implement an Atlantic hydrogen corridor between Galicia, Northern Spain, and Portugal.

Norvento Enerxía is launching different pilot projects around three lines of action.

First, an energy self-consumption project. The company is boosting the production of renewable hydrogen from the surplus energy at its headquarters, known as CIne (Norvento Energía Innovation Center), located in the As Gándaras business park (Lugo). This building is completely disconnected from the electricity and gas grids and is self-sufficient with 100% renewable energy generated on-site. Furthermore, it combines a range of self-consumption generation sources with a highly efficient design and an artificial intelligence system that regulates consumption based on demand.

This trend is now complemented by this green hydrogen project, structured in two phases. The first phase aims to achieve an electrolysis capacity of 10 Nm3H2/h (62 kW power) and the second phase will have a total capacity of 30 Nm3H2/h (175 kW power).

Hydrogen will be produced by electrolysis (of demineralized water) in a new building dedicated to this purpose, which will be constructed adjacent to the headquarters. The hydrogen will be stored for later use in re-electrification within the CIne microgrid.

Secondly, the supply for hydrogen vehicles and, lastly, through an agreement with Nedgia, through which the company will incorporate the surplus hydrogen into the public natural gas distribution network.

The company has a technological commitment to manufacturing solutions; in that sense, it has different lines of work that revolve around the concept of power electronics, integrating electrolyzers for hydrogen serialization and fuel cells for domestic consumption.
