According to IFR, after the strong performance of 2023 (with overall growth of +31%, exceeding 5,000 installations for the second time ever), 2024 not only failed to see a correction, but actually registered a further increase of +2.1%, compared to the 5,053 units of the previous year. Furthermore, the market is maintaining its levels with a sectoral distribution that reflects its maturity:
The automotive sector continues to be the main driver, with a total of 2,278 units, representing 44% of total installations. After reaching record highs in 2023, it experienced a slight correction of -2.7% in 2024.
The metal sector consolidates its second position (854 installations), representing 16.5% of the market, with a significant decline (-17%) compared to the previous year.
The food and beverage market stands out with considerable growth (+25.3%), reaching 620 units, 12% of the total.
The plastics and chemicals sectors grew by 7.5% (288 units), representing 5.5% of the total.
The electrical and electronics sector added 133 units, a 118% increase. However, its market share is still smaller (2.6% of the total).
It is worth noting that the data collected by IFR covers approximately 95% of the national market.
According to AER, for the second consecutive year, service and mobile robotics is breaking records in Spain, with a 34% increase in sales during 2024, doubling the 2023 growth rate (17%). This segment is divided into:
Professional service robotics, which, according to an internal study with members of the AER Automation Service Robotics Commission, continues to account for 90% of reported figures. The leading sectors are:
Transportation and logistics, which dominate with 76% of sales.
Hospitality and, for the first time, Search and Rescue gain relevance, with 9% and 3% respectively.
The remaining 10% corresponds to service robotics for consumers, where the following lead:
Robots for home care, which almost double their sales (+83%) compared to 2023.
Regarding other sectors, the following stand out:
Education and R&D: growth of +33.1% (209 units).
