The innovation center, located in the Álava Technology Park, has a team of 20 professionals with extensive experience in the areas of the cell, its behavior, and its application to different power and energy needs.

This center has been designed as a co-development environment where Cegasa collaborates with its clients, as well as with other technology centers and universities, including the University of Oviedo, IKERLAN, and CIC energiGUNE. Furthermore, this facility is equipped with specialized equipment for the safety certification of lithium-ion-based systems, making it one of the few facilities in Europe with these capabilities. This distinctive capability allows them to offer maximum safety in their products, which are subjected to extreme electrical and environmental conditions to ensure they meet the required quality certifications.

“In the laboratory we carry out all kinds of research, for example, around artificial intelligence and connectivity, where we develop solutions to drive the digital transformation of the electricity sector, equipping batteries with intelligent systems that, with tools such as digital twins, allow us to optimize the use and predict the lifespan of the batteries,” says Igor Cantero, R&D&I director at Cegasa Energía.

“We have made a strategic commitment to innovation and technological development. We believe in the energy transition and in the need to invest in internal talent and a close relationship with our employees. Our R&D department is our DNA; without it, we wouldn't be Cegasa,” says Félix Urrea, CEO of Cegasa Energía.
