The IMDEA Institute investigates the production of sustainable fuels (hydrogen and biofuels), the use of solar energy, energy storage through electrochemical, thermal and thermochemical systems, high-efficiency energy systems, power systems and demand management, the valorization of CO2 emissions and the analysis and evaluation of energy systems.
The Saft Baterías climatic chamber, brand Ineltec model CM-4800 with 4Kw of power, will help the IMDEA Energy Institute to reproduce controlled temperature and humidity conditions inside for carrying out studies or tests and verifying the behavior and quality of products and materials exposed to these climatic conditions.
This type of climate chamber can be applied in all sectors to evaluate the behavior of materials, components and equipment in the climatic conditions where they will be used regularly or to subject them to extreme or adverse climatic conditions that may alter their performance, reliability, behavior or physical and structural integrity.
“Thanks to its large usable volume and easy accessibility, the climate chamber that SAFT is making available to the IMDEA Energy Institute
is ideal for testing large batteries or battery assemblies with their auxiliary equipment. It will also allow for the simultaneous testing of a large number of individual cells, as it can house not only the cells but also the cyclers. In short, this equipment will significantly increase the testing capabilities and the range of technological services offered by the Electrochemical Device Testing Laboratory (EDTL),” says Jesús Palma, head of the Electrochemical Processes Unit at the IMDEA Energy Institute.
“We are very proud to promote this research collaboration, helping the IMDEA Energy Institute in its mission to become an international benchmark institution in energy-related matters. R&D is the cornerstone of SAFT's strategy, which has allowed us to celebrate our 100th anniversary this year,” commented Ignacio Quiles, General Manager of Saft Batteries.
