With the OSRAM SFH 4718A IRED, the OSLON Black portfolio now comprises three wavelengths (810 nm, 850 nm, and 940 nm) and three beam angles (±25, ±45, and ±75 degrees), with optical outputs ranging from 0.3 W to 2 W. The SFH 4718A offers an optical output of 0.8 W to 1 A and an excellent radiant intensity of 730 W/sr. The device's 850 nm wavelength is barely discernible to humans but falls within the sensitivity range of camera sensors.
The OSRAM OSLON Black SFH 4718A IRED comes in a small 3.75 × 3.75 mm package with a low thermal resistance of 16 K/W (max.) and electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection up to 2 kV. The device is ideal for a range of security and recognition applications, including 3D imaging and facial recognition access control. Engineers can also use IREDs in systems to illuminate areas monitored by closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems, as well as for automatic license plate recognition systems.
