iia3412 072dpiStandardized S7 function blocks for Simatic controllers simplify their integration into user programs; pre-programmed faceplates for WinCC allow for visualization on Simatic panels or industrial PCs. Devices are quickly and easily parameterized and diagnosed using the TIA engineering framework, and integrated into Profinet. Furthermore, the battery management function selects the optimal, temperature-regulated charging characteristic and continuously monitors the state of charge and battery life.
A key advantage of the Sitop UPS1600 with Ethernet interface is that the new DC-USV allows for the protection of, for example, multiple controllers or industrial PCs (IPCs), such as a group of these in a master-slave configuration. In the event of a power outage, this enables the shutdown, in the prescribed order, of the equipment connected to the power supply or places them in a defined standby state. The Sitop UPS1600 application allows users to prevent damage to their plants or parts in production caused by sudden power outages.

Siemens offers the Sitop UPS1600 in variants with 10 A or 20 A output currents, both with a nominal voltage of 24 volts. If needed, for example, to start up IPCs, the power supply can deliver up to three times the nominal current. The unit is also designed for high load currents, allowing for rapid recovery of autonomy after a battery backup. Two Sitop UPS1100 battery modules are available, adapted to the new DC-USV modules, with capacities of 3.2 Ah (ampere-hours) and 7 Ah, respectively.

Other advantages of the Sitop UPS1600: Battery management automatically detects connected batteries and selects the optimal charging curve, which is also temperature-dependent. Furthermore, the unit continuously monitors both the state of charge and the battery's remaining lifespan. This allows for the early detection of batteries showing signs of aging. The Sitop UPS1600 is also suitable for island operation, for example, for installing autonomous power systems:
With the energy stored in the battery modules, the unit can then, for instance, start diesel generators. The new Sitop UPS1600 power supply is easily and quickly configured and diagnosed using the TIA Portal or the free Sitop UPS Manager PC software. Users can also remotely access configuration and operating data via the integrated web server and Ethernet interface. For offline applications, Sitop UPS1600 variants with USB or digital I/O interfaces are available.
