The Huawei rectifier can now achieve a peak conversion efficiency of 98% at a 50% load ratio, the prevalent DC load, an upgrade from the previous conversion efficiency of 96%. At 98% conversion efficiency, the Huawei rectifier can reduce conversion energy loss by 50% compared to a mainstream rectifier in the industry with a conversion efficiency of 94%.
The rectifier's higher conversion efficiency reduces heat dissipation, leading to improved power density, a 40% reduction in the electrical failure rate, and lower noise levels. Furthermore, with a high-profile backpack unit and a power density of 42.7 W/in³, the rectifier saves over 30% of cabin space and footprint.
"Every 1% improvement in the efficiency of the power supply system produces a huge amount of energy savings and increased profit, especially considering that the combined annual revenue of global telecom operators is over US$2 billion. For a core patch room with a DC load of 500 kW, a 2% improvement in the efficiency of the power supply system would save at least 100,000 kWh of energy consumption, equivalent to the energy consumption of nine average US households in one year," said Dr. Fang Liangzhou, Vice President of Huawei Network Energy Product Line.
