Thanks to the ability to operate two 9PX units in parallel, or to add redundancy to your system by installing a second UPS,
you can also configure two 9PX UPSs connected in parallel to automatically switch between redundant and boost power modes, depending on the load level.
“Thanks to their ability to reduce energy consumption without sacrificing reliability, our 9PX UPSs, which recently received the ENERGY STAR® rating in recognition of their outstanding energy efficiency, are already very popular,” says Christophe Jammes, product manager at Eaton. “Now, the ability to operate two of these innovative units in parallel has further increased their versatility, making their undeniable benefits available to an even wider range of users.”
The parallel configuration of the 9PX UPSs utilizes Eaton Hot Sync technology, which allows them to operate in parallel without the need for communication between units.
This eliminates the single point of failure inherent in traditional parallel configurations based on master-slave technologies, thus maximizing availability.
To enable parallel operation of these 9PX UPSs, Eaton offers two ModularEasy units – one for the 5 and 6 kVA UPSs, and another for the 8 and 11 kVA UPSs. These units, which operate as a single unit, unify the UPS input and output connections and incorporate a maintenance bypass function. The ModularEasy units are available separately for use in existing installations or can be purchased as part of a complete package that includes two UPSs, one ModularEasy unit, two network cards, and mounting hardware. The new 9PX UPSs will be available for parallel operation starting in mid-April. For existing units, a firmware update will be required.
Risks and costs of not installing an industrial UPS
Industrial environments have a number of specific requirements regarding their electricity supply. Its continuity, reliability, and efficiency are non-negotiable and must be achieved at a reasonable cost that contributes to the profitability of companies and organizations.
