These new versions make lithium-ion battery boost technology a solution for Edge Computing applications and other installations located inside and outside of IT-designed environments.
Li-ion technology, compared to UPS systems using valve-regulated lead-acid (VRLA) batteries, offers savings of up to 50%. The new Smart-UPS is available with a comprehensive 5-year warranty covering both the batteries and the electronics.
The Smart-UPS line-interactive range includes 500, 750, 1000, and 1500VA models with a high output power factor. They are available in 1U rack, tower, and wall-mount versions (500VA) and 2U and 3U rack-mount versions (750, 1000, and 1500VA), which are shallow, lightweight, and cloud-based for easier remote monitoring. The new UPS combines an eco-mode with up to 97% efficiency, pure sine wave output, automatic voltage regulation (AVR), and surge protection.
The new Smart-UPS can be more easily integrated into IT systems such as hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI), racks, or wall-mount systems like the EcoStruxure™ Micro Data Center C-Series 6U Wall Mount solution. Used in conjunction with APC's Local Edge Configurator web tool, the solutions can be customized with layout, cooling, enclosure, and management options for installation in locations ranging from retail and office to industrial, educational, or healthcare environments.
Smart-UPS models are EcoStruxure Ready compatible and cloud-based by default. Optionally, they enable remote monitoring and include PowerChute™ Business Edition for easy, unattended shutdown. The optional UPS Network Management Card integrates the APC Smart-UPS with Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure IT™ next-generation Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) software for simplified remote management. Customers can also benefit from enhanced reliability and reduced downtime risk by allowing APC channel partners and managed service providers (MSPs) to monitor their IT systems or by leveraging Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure Asset Advisor remote monitoring service.
Lithium-ion batteries are designed to withstand wider temperature fluctuations, enabling high performance in ambient temperatures up to 40°C and reducing the need for additional cooling in some installations. Lithium-ion batteries are lighter and more compact than their VRLA counterparts, making them easier to transport and install. Furthermore, they are more efficient in terms of charge and discharge cycles, reducing the total cost of ownership (TCO) by extending operating life and lowering maintenance and replacement costs.
