These amplifiers are offered in both SOT-89 and SOIC-8EP differential packages. Furthermore, each product family is design-compatible, allowing design engineers performance flexibility on the same system board.
These devices, specifically designed for legacy DOCSIS 3.1 Distributed and HFC (hybrid coax) networks, are scheduled for launch at this year's EDI CON 2017 event in Shanghai. The DOCSIS 3.1 standard is responding to market demand for higher-performance broadband from MSOs (Multiple Service Operators). As a leading supplier of active and passive broadband products to OEMs, MACOM's latest active families offer design engineers the ability to select the required performance and optimize power consumption.
"MACOM's latest families of single- or differential-terminated wired broadband amplifiers offer an optimal balance of linearity, noise figure, and energy efficiency, which are required in today's infrastructure networks," says Graham Board, Senior Director of Multi-Market Products at MACOM.
Single-Terminated SOT-89 5V Family
• The MAAL-011139 amplifier offers 21.5 dB of gain, low noise, and high linearity, operating at 5-1218 MHz. This versatile amplifier is housed in a 3-sided SOT-89 plastic package and can be biased from 3 to 5 volts with adjustable current, achieving a noise figure of 1.2 dB and an OIP3 of 34 dBm.
• The MAAM-011162 is a single-terminated, high-linearity, low-noise amplifier covering both upstream and downstream bands from 5-1218 MHz. This device is housed in a 3-sided SOT-89 plastic package and provides 18 dB of flat gain in both upstream and downstream applications.
• The MAAM-011251 is a single-terminated, high-linearity, low-noise amplifier covering both upstream and downstream bands from 5-1218 MHz. This device is housed in a 3-sided SOT-89 plastic package and provides 15 dB of flat gain in both upstream and downstream applications.
The MAAM-011258 is a single-terminated, high-linearity, low-noise amplifier that covers both upstream and downstream bands from 5-1218 MHz. This device is housed in a 3-sided SOT-89 plastic package and provides 12 dB of flat gain in both upstream and downstream applications.
5V SOIC-8EP Differential Family
• The MAAM-011163 is a 19dB gain differential amplifier covering both the 5-1218 MHz upstream and downstream bands. Housed in an SOIC-8EP plastic package, this device offers a noise figure of 2.4 dB and an OPI3 of 42 dBm.
• The MAAM-011240 is a 17dB gain differential amplifier covering both the 5-1218 MHz upstream and downstream bands. Housed in an SOIC-8EP plastic package, this device offers a noise figure of 2.6 dB and an OPI3 of 44 dBm.
The MAAM-011250 is a 15dB gain differential amplifier covering both the 5-1218 MHz up and down bands. Housed in an SOIC8EP plastic package, this device offers a noise figure of 2.8 dB and an OPI3 of 44 dBm.
